Jones, Porter have terrific day

Day two at Boo Williams saw some very good individual performances. Here are the top players I saw from Saturday.

2018 Trey Jones 6'4 PG (Apple Valley High) Apple Valley, MN (Howard Pulley)

He's been getting a lot of heat and pressure being compared to his older brother and that's not fair. Jones impressed me enough to say he is a top five point guard in 2018. He ran the team with so much ease and plays winning basketball. He got all his teammates involved and when called on to score he can deliver, scoring 30 points with eight assist and seven rebounds against Cal Supreme. Great performance.

2018 Cole Swider 6'8 WF (St. Andrews School) Portsmouth, RI (BABC)

Last year Cole slid under the radar with BABC, because of all the upperclassmen. There's no more sliding this year, this is his team. He was the best shooter I watched on Saturday and that's by a kid that a true 6'8. He also impressed me by putting the ball on the floor. If he can consistently do that, his game will explode. He dropped 37 points (BABC scored 67) and seven rebounds against TeamTakeover. This was on 13-16 shooting while going 7-9 behind the arc.

2019 Vernon Carey Jr. 6'10 F (University School, FL) Nike Team FL.

On this young team loaded with studs from the 2019 class, It's hard to pick the best one from Saturday. The way Carey played against Porter really impressed me. He scored in every way possible. He was very good in the post and also knocked it down from deep. He was good on the glass, but that's where he must get better at times. A definite talent.

2108 Jontay Porter 6'9 PF (Nathan Hale) Columbia, MO (MoKan)

This is another player that has to live in his brothers shadow at the moment, but what I saw from Saturday, it won't be for long. He's a ferocious rebounder, competes and plays with a high motor. What impressed me the most, is his skill set keeps on improving. He can score in a variety of ways in the post. He's gotten very physical and that's taken his game to another level. He was a double-double machine Saturday. He had 15 and 15 in a big win against state rival, Bradley Beal Elite.

2018 Colby White 6'4 CG (Greenfield High) Goldsboro, NC (CP3)

He puts pressure on the defense with his quickness and athleticism. He seemed to always have his defender on his heels. CP3 went 1-1 on Saturday and if not for Colby's heroics in the second game, could've easily lost both. With 3.5 seconds, he went from baseline to the three point line and won the game on a thrilling three point shot. He's put CP3 on his back the first two days.
