{ATLANTA< GA} There were some great individual performances last night. Ashton Hagans filled up the stat sheet with a triple double performance (14 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assist}. Tre Clark showed scoring tools at all levels with 25 points for Newton County. Trendon Watford led a discipline and patient and well coached Mountain Brook squad with 35 points in their win over Norcross.

RJ Barrett, consensus number one player in 2018 and Duke commit had a slow start but quickly turned it around to  lead Montverde to an easy win versus Trinity (VA), with 26 points and 10 boards. McEachern, favorite to win 7-A in Georgia this year, showed their depth in beating Christ School with Isaac Okoro leading the way and playing without Sharife Cooper who went out with early injury. Jalen Lecque continued what he started this spring/summer, showing his next level athleticism and improved handles and jumper. Columbia's unsigned senior 6-5 Keondre Kennedy impressed with his range, length and scoring ability, going for 27 points and seven rebounds in a loss.

Here are a couple of game recaps from last night.

Mountain Brook vs Norcross

This game was a high profile matchup that featured 5 Stars 2019 Big Trendon Watford and 2020 Brandon Boston. More importantly two well coached teams went head to head in this one. Mountain Brook relied on very stingy defense from the tip. Their constant ball pressure and ability to draw the charge gave Norcross fits. Sean Elmore(North Alabama Signee) was a dog on defense and shot the ball with confidence. He finished the game with 15 points 6/8 FG. Trendon Watford started off slow but got it going in the second half. His ability to make plays around the rim gave Norcross fits. Trendon Watford finished with 36 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Sturdivant led the Blue devils from Norcross with 19 points 7/11 FG. Brandon Boston and Dalvin White both chipped in with 12 points a piece.

Montverde vs Trinity (VA)

RJ Barrett and company led Montverde to a 79 to 48 win over Trinity Episcopal (Va). This one wasn't close at all. The talent of Montverde was too much for the Trinity squad from Virginia. Mike Devoe (Ga Tech signee) of Montverde is a guy who could move up into 5 star status at the end of the year. He got it going early offensively for the Eagles, attacking the rim and hitting the outside shot. He finished the game with a very efficient 21 points 9/11 FG. He should be a starter next year for Ga Tech. The Eagles got a spark off the bench from Senior guard Trevin Wade (transfer from South Cobb). The 5'10 guard ignited the crowd when he slammed it home with a one-handed flush. He gives Montverde another dimension off the bench with his constant ball pressure and fearlessness attacking the rim. Wade finished with 9 points. RJ Barrett (Duke signee) was very impressive offensively, with an improved outside shot. You pair his  improved shooting stroke with his ability to get to the rim and you have a player that cannot be stopped on the high school level. He finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds. A bright spot for Trinity was 2020 F Henry Coleman. The 6'6 Forward was a dog on the glass against the size of Montverde. He shows potential as a stretch four. He's one to keep an eye on in the 2020 class. The Sophomore finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Armando Bacot struggled in the paint against the size of Montverde ,he finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds for Trinity.
