Collier game winner caps East MVP performance, Overton West MVP

The Underclassman All-American Rising Stars Game features some of the best 2023 boys in the South. The East won on a game winning field goal by Isaiah Collier who also won MVP for the East. His AAU teammate LT Overton won MVP of the West. Here are the standouts from the rising stars game:

6’4 F LT Overton (TSF Mack 2023) is a physical force in the paint. The lefty found himself in good position for the dump off pass or the offensive rebounds. Overton can finish thru contact and on either side of the rim.

6’2 W Marquavious Brown (FreeBandz Elite) is a long, athletic lefty. He’s smooth getting to the rim and finishing. Brown has the ability to handle the ball and create his own shot. He also showed that he is a good on ball defender and he can defend smaller guards and bigger forwards.

6’3 W Seth Fitzgerald (TSF Mack 2023) is another physical kid who thrives off attacking the rim. He has a strong build which provides him the ability to finish thru contact. Fitzgerald can also knock down the open mid range jumper.

6’8 F Mekhi Grant (B Maze Elite) is a long athletic kid who can finish above the rim with authority. Grant can play in the post and finish with the fade-a-way jumper. Grant is physical and works hard for good position. He can also play on the perimeter and use the dribble to beat his defender to the basket. AHe also runs the floor well.

6’0 PG Isaiah Collier (TSF Mack 2023) showed why he is ranked top 15 in the country. This kid has an elite handle of the rock, a crazy hesitation and can get to the basket at will. Collier’s ability to finish at the rim is extremely impressive because he switches up his finishes based on the defender. He also knows how to draw contact and get to the free throw line. This kid is smooth and he thrives in the pick n roll.

5’9 PG Austen Colton (Freebandz Elite) was a knack on defense the entire game. He forced a number of turnovers or bad shots. On offense, Colton has an elite change of speed which makes it hard to guard him. He can get to the rim at will. Colton also has deep range on his shot and Will cash out if you leave him open.

6’7 SF Sam Walters (Team CP25) is a long lefty who has a special skill set. He can put the ball on the ground and get to the rim. He can also shoot the long range shot off the catch or dribble. Walters has a thin frame but is physical and can play thru contact.

6’2 W Lamaryon Jordan (Freebandz Elite) has a natural scoring ability. He’s an efficient scorer and doesn’t need to dribble the ball. He understands when to slash to the rim for the pass and finish. Jordan also can space the floor with his perimeter shooting ability in the corners.

Notable Mentions:

6’1 PG Kyle Jones (GA Stars)

5’11 SG Kenric Lanier (Freebandz Elite)

5’9 CG Chase Clemmons (TSF Mack 2023)

5’9 PG Earl Woods (Alabama)
